Good Sound

This is a great demo! The sounds are well controlled and all sounds great together. Once more ideas are put together, it should be a great piece. Keep it up :)

Rainbowdove responds:

Thanks! I'm glad it sounds "controlled." It's my first song I've really taken the time to experiment with everything. I have like no experience with mixing and such so it will take me awhile to finish.

Nice

Some interesting sounds there. Could be used for some surrealistic scene. I found the dominant sound to be quite repetitive and annoying, but the backing sounds were very welcoming whenever they came. There are many good stuff in there. Keep up the good work.

Kragoon responds:

Thanks for the review! I completely agree. Normally I would try to fix those problems, but I dont even have the program I used to make it anymore. :P
so I guess it will have to stay imperfect for now. :P Oh well!

Anyway thanks again! :)

Intense

All I could think of with the opening bass was "Hand Cramp!" but it sounded cool. Your style of metal is awesome and intense. But the fact that you used synths really degraded the metal feeling. You can have synth bass and drums, but the guitar has to be genuine. But, man, your style is hardcore. I mean, you don't really have to be in a recording studio. If you actually have a guitar, then you can record yourself with a mike and computer. I personally just use Audacity for recording and FL Studio for the drums and bass.

If you can spend the time on a synth program to make this, my way shouldn't be too hard.

Can't wait to hear more from you, and good luck.

Peace

Simple 4-chord Songs

I am in a band that uses that strategy to come up with songs: the 4-chord progressions, and I, as a pianist, was very amazed at how such simple songs can be made not so simple. This song does not seem to follow such a simple pattern, but if you listen for it, there it is.
You did a wonderful job with the song style I'm surrounded in. Although I would say "make it into a song!" I read your reason why not and i agree with you. Try hard finding a vocalist for you loops and turn them into songs... please.
I also admire how well you know where all you ideas come from, like "the drum was influenced by... the song was inspired by..." I just never know where my ideas come from. Thanks for sharing that amazing loop.

Viperodriguez responds:

A lot of my inspiration comes from the popular songs of the 60s. I think Holland-Dozier-Holland where geniuses in developing a process for writing songs. A lot of their music contained only four chords, but what really made their songs most successful, I think, was their talent for melody and harmony. Another major element to their success was Eddie Holland, the lyricist, who had a major talent for telling a story with his lyrics. I think you should check out this interview with H-D-H as they talk a little about how they wrote songs (Google this: www. songwriteruniverse. com/hdh). A lot of the stuff they did I found out that I had done as well. In my head I hear what the song sounds like and try to use what ever means I can to convert it into sound. The thing is that this song is influenced by a lot things I hear, weather it be something I'm listening to on the radio of something I hear in passing. Some songs that I can name that this was influenced by was Katy Perry's "Not N Cold", an old song by Lindsey Buckingham called "Trouble" and a lot of Motown songs. One piece of advice that Brian Holland gives in that interview is "Listen to different sounds for production ideas. Be inspired by great songs and great production." I think that couldn't be more true, because it's exactly what I do.

Nothing Bad about it.

I can't find anything to mean to say to this wonderful song... except that I'd REALLY like to hear the music with the lyrics written for it (sorry, you may want a better vocalist than me). A very nice loop that flows so smoothly. I can easily see it as a song instead of a loop. Maybe once you have a vocal part to it, the loop just might make the lyrics seem too repetitive. It's okay now, but I can see it better as a song than a loop once the lyrics are added to it.

Viperodriguez responds:

Writing these songs is mostly a hobby I do with free time. I'm not much of a musician and not really a singer, but I love listening and playing music. I can't afford to go to a music school so I could do something that involves sound. So I don't really have a lot of time to develop my music. But I like exercising my creativity and hearing from people who enjoy the things I have created. Another reason why I don't like to release words that I wrote is because of copyright issues. With music copy write laws are a little different but with written words it can get very specific. I'm also a little reticent to submit full songs for commercial free purposes. I may submit one or two but as of right now I'm kinda adverse to the idea.

Not bad, dude

it could have been a bit more longer, and have more different beats then what youhave up there, but I, too, understand how hard it is to make a desent-lenghed music. It could also have more different riffs, and... yeah

Overall, not bad at all. Keep it up!

ONESTEPAHEAD responds:

aCUALLY ALL THE SONGS I MAKE I USE FOR STEPMANIA ( A DDR SIMULATOR) AND MY SONGS CAN'T REALLY GO BEYOND THE LENGTH OF 1:30-2:00

Amazing

Incredible song. I'm just a Noob on New Grounds, but this song is just amazing. Even though I am a good classical pianist and have composed from about the same age (considering that you started in 6th grade), I have never heard a great composed piano piece like this, the fact that you had the idea of this in 6th grade: Mind blowing. You're a Prodigy.

You'll go far. As far as I'm going, I'm practicing a bunch of classical songs, composing some (none uploaded yet), and playing in a rock band (they were stunned by my classical piano skills). Hope you're better off than me. (because my life is confusing!)

That was a very lovely, moving piece. I can listen to it over and over.

BlazingDragon responds:

Prodigy? I wouldn't go as far as to say THAT. :P

Unfortunately, my actual performance skills are very poor. I can improvise fairly well, but my technical skills are severely lacking because I am mostly self taught. Composing is something which I love, but I couldn't play the greater majority of songs that I write.

I wish you the best of luck with your musical pursuits! Hopefully we may both find some degree of success. Your kind review is appreciated. :)
